Mark Youngman, Director of Spencers’ Ringwood office, explains why ‘New Forest north’ is gaining popularity with locals and newcomers alike.
“Recently we have seen increased levels of interest in property in the northern part of the New Forest. Traditionally, visitors and purchasers have come to the better-publicised ‘Forest heartland’ areas and the property market reflects that demand. The area running north of Ringwood, up to the National Park boundary and tracking east as far as Brook has been more of a well-kept secret. However, this part of the New Forest offers a traditional way of life - idyllic village locations and pubs, local grocers and butchers, stunning walks and some of the best horse riding in the country. In terms of property available, home-hunters can find everything from a quintessential thatched cottage to substantial equestrian properties. I have always thought of it as the ‘forgotten Forest’, but seems word is out – throughout last year and over the festive period in to 2012 we have continued to take numerous new enquiries from those looking to re-locate to this area”.
Mark’s team have recently taken an instruction for a charming four-storey townhouse that forms part of a converted water mill (view property) nestled on the banks of the Hampshire Avon. The property is an ideal base from which to explore the delights of the New Forest and the counties of Wiltshire and Dorset. Within easy reach are six blue flag beaches, the spectacular harbours of Christchurch and Poole and numerous places of historic interest such as Salisbury, Beaulieu and Romsey. Mark adds that whilst his team’s ‘home patch’ is Ringwood, they are increasingly taking instructions that further build on Spencers’ presence across the National Park and beyond.
